The challenge
Mike’s Country Meats is a Tigerton, Wisconsin beef jerky maker with a loyal local following. In 2015 its online presence was a simple storefront doing modest numbers, around $8,447 in gross sales across 128 orders that first year. The opportunity was clear: turn a basic website into a real e-commerce engine that could carry Mike’s jerky to a national audience without losing the personable, small-town character customers loved.
What we did
We have been Mike’s web partner since that first build, and we have evolved the store steadily ever since:
- Iterative improvements from 2016 to 2018 to the user experience, performance and product catalog, which grew orders and revenue year over year.
- A major 2019 redesign that leaned into Mike’s playful, cartoon-cow branding, with subtle homepage animation and a rebuilt, far more user-friendly WooCommerce storefront and checkout.
- Targeted email marketing to stay connected with customers, drive repeat purchases and announce new products and offers.
- Ongoing refinement since, including conversion and UX tweaks and quality-of-life features like a site-wide dark mode, keeping the store growing through the pandemic and beyond.
