Facebook has been part of our lives for many years. In some cases Facebook has been part of lives since it was founded in 2004.
In 2004, the social network launched at Harvard University in Massachusetts by, then student, Mark Zuckerberg. After a couple of months Facebook was a success in many other Ivy league schools and Stanford University in California.
In its first year, Facebook was in many colleges across America and had reached 1 million users.
In 2005, 800 school across America were supported by Facebook. After attracting many people to sign up in America, Facebook started to expand to other countries around the world. In 2005 the social network started supporting international schools.
The year of 2006 saw user numbers continue on to rise and they were from many countries around the world including Canada and the UK. By the end of 2007, worldwide users exceeded 12 million.
A year later Facebook rolled out translation versions of Facebook including Spanish, French and German. With these features the social network kept climbing in international users.
